Arranging Martin Cilia’s Songs for Solo Guitar

One of my favourite ways to play – if not my favourite of all – is solo fingerstyle guitar.

I love the challenge of getting a few parts going at once (melody, chords, bass. I use to add percussive hits to the guitar as well, until one night I saw what I had done to the face of that Maton. I put that technique away after that!).

So my good friend Martin Cilia (The Radiators, Mental as Anything, solo, and more) has laid down a challenge for me; to arrange some of his tunes for solo guitar in my own fashion. The originals were recorded with a full band, so I will have to decide how to present that on a single guitar (or perhaps even on the harp guitar?).

I’m going to document the process, so anyone interested in learning more about how I approach arranging for solo guitar can follow me here!
