Catfish Blues Riff

Catfish Blues is a blues standard ascribed to Robert Petway, but this is often assumed as Petway seemingly recorded the first version. As with many folk-blues tunes, the truth is unknown.
Muddy Water’s “Rolling Stone” bears some similarities in the lyrics; once again, this is quite typical of the genre and folk music in general.
No matter who wrote the song, it is a wonderful tune to play. It is essentially built around this one riff. Playing something so repetitive can be hypnotic.
Look for variations dynamically and rhythmically that can work with the essence of this riff and the performance as well!
